The frequency and severity of degenerative diseases is now a major public health problem. In our laboratory, we propose an alternative strategy to prevent these pathologies based on: The census of medicinal and aromatic plants and the development of a database of these plants and their therapeutic virtues (MAP). o Epidemiological and ethnobotanical study of medicinal plants used in artisanal therapy. o Extraction of essential oils and natural substances and optimization of biomolecules extraction and purification techniques by chromatographic and spectral methods. o Galenic formulation of laboratory-prepared biomolecules in the form of alicament (prebiotic), ointment and cream and evaluation of their safety in vitro and in vivo. o Study of the Nutrition-Infectious and Metabolic Diseases Relationship and the clinical research of antibiotic resistance, to develop new antibacterial agents to fight antibiotic resistance while maintaining its quality assurance. o Molecular modeling and chemical modification and enzymatic bioconversion of biomolecules to optimize their therapeutic effects in vivo. o Application of regulatory requirements and standards for manufactured natural products and assessment of their toxicity and nutritional, organoleptic, functional and sensory properties. INTERNSHIP: The LBGMSS laboratory welcomes students for introductory research internships, level M1 or M2 in Applied Biochemistry, Biochemistry applied to nutrition and Microbial Biotechnology. The multidisciplinary approach proposed by our teams allows us to offer diversified internships in the field of research in Biochemistry applied to public health, in microbial ecology and in molecular modification by semi-synthesis and by enzymatic bioconversion. The laboratory also hosts PhD students specializing in «natural substances and therapeutic innovation» and «valorization of natural substances».
